ArmaFlex insulation from Armacell offers reliable condensation control

WHAT’S AN ACCEPTABLE AMOUNT OF CONDENSATION? ZERO.

98% of all insulation failures are moisture-related. Discover why Armacell conducts 30,000 quality tests each year to ensure customers receive high-quality thermal and acoustic insulation materials. Go BEYOND BETTER to prevent moisture ingress, corrosion under insulation and system failure.

98% OF ALL INSULATION FAILURES ARE MOISTURE-RELATED

Condensation occurs when the surrounding air is 100% saturated with water vapour. Due to temperature differences, inadequate insulation can result in condensation and surface run off on the insulated pipe. Some insulation materials rely on an external water vapour barrier to resist moisture ingress. However, this is often a thin piece of covering like aluminium, which is easily damaged during installation or over time. If this vapour retarder is damaged, water vapour intrusion can result and wet the insulation material. This is often the case with cold applications and chilled water pipe systems.

Condensation is not acceptable

Reduced thermal performance

Wet insulation will result in reduced thermal performance as it can no longer protect pipes against energy losses.

Deterioration of the insulated system

Moisture ingress will deteriorate the insulation material and the installed insulation system will fail.

Breeding ground for mould

Moisture accumulated in the insulation material is conducive for mould growth, which can lead to poor indoor air quality and health risks for building users.

Install the right solution to avoid condensation and water vapour intrusion.

When the right insulation system is correctly installed, thermal loss is effectively reduced. This helps to ensure that the total amount of energy used to maintain the thermal comfort within the building is optimised. System engineers typically have two considerations - prevent condensation on the outer surface of the insulation and avoid water vapour intrusion.

The right insulation correctly installed helps to ensure that the total amount of energy used to maintain thermal comfort within the building is optimised.

Choose the right high-quality solution to prevent energy loss where it happens.

With the building sector alone consuming up to 40% of all energy, it is important to focus on conserving energy in this area. Research shows that significant building energy requirements can be saved by using existing, tried-and-tested technologies such as insulation. Hence, stricter energy efficiency regulations and green building codes will be implemented and enforced globally, driving the demand for high-performance insulation. Armacell conducts 30,000 tests each year to ensure customers are assured of high-quality insulation products that deliver reliable and consistent performance every time.
